Hello, I’m Coach Nik.  This is my third season of coaching and I’m delighted to be a part of such a great hockey association. I have my NCCP certification for house league coaching.  I don’t coach because I have kids on the team.  I don’t coach because it looks good on a resume.  I coach because I have a passion for the game.  Ever since I was introduced to the sport I was addicted to it.  I learned to play hockey through the MHL system and I was taught by many dedicated coaches.  I feel as if it’s my time to repay the favour.  I surround myself with other coaches that share my same passion.    

 It is my job to make hockey fun for everyone including myself.  We try to accomplish this by encourage team building activities both on and off the ice.  If we as coaches lose the passion to teach, that will filter down and the kids will lose that passion to play.  If you watch me on the bench, it’s pretty obvious that I’m just as engaged in the play as the players or the spectators.  My antics include throwing my hands in the air after a goal and gasping at close chances.

 When I talk to all of my friends and co-workers about the team, I don’t refer to them as players.  I tell them to come out and see my kids play.  I have 15 kids and they are all phenomenal hockey players!  I treat them all equally and as one of my own.  Parents your passion is amazing, it is very refreshing to see the effort and interest you show in your child’s extracurricular activities.  Please continue to cheer us on and be the fuel for our fire.
